Cable Size Calculator & Load Schedule for the UAE
Two field-ready tools for MEP contractors and electricians in Dubai and the UAE: size a cable per BS 7671 with local derating, or build a load schedule with DEWA demand factors and export it to CSV.
Empty = 30°C standard. UAE summer outdoors: 45–50°C
Empty = 1 circuit. Grouping factor per BS 7671 Table 4C1
0 = skip the voltage drop check
Calculated for UAE site conditions — not a generic online calculator
The cable size calculator applies BS 7671 current-carrying capacities for PVC and XLPE copper conductors across the installation methods used on UAE projects — clipped direct, in conduit or trunking, and buried direct. Because switchrooms and rooftops in the Emirates are rarely at the 30°C reference temperature, you can set the actual ambient temperature and the result is derated per BS 7671 Tables 4B1/4B2 — the +50°C summer case is the reason so many generic calculators undersize cables in Dubai. Grouped circuits are corrected with the rating factors of Table 4C1, and a voltage drop check against the DEWA limit is included in the same pass.
The load schedule tool mirrors what DEWA reviewers expect in a submission: a list of connected loads per category — lighting, socket outlets, cooking, water heaters, HVAC — with demand (diversity) factors from the IET On-Site Guide to BS 7671 (Table A2) and established Dubai practice, all overridable when your approved design specifies different values. It totals connected and demand load in kW and kVA, derives the design current Ib, selects the main MCB/MCCB rating and sizes the incoming cable, derated at 50°C ambient by default. The finished schedule exports to CSV for your drawing package.
Both tools are free and require no account — built for MEP contractors, site electricians and consultants working on DEWA-regulated projects in Dubai and across the UAE. Results are approximate engineering estimates: verify final sizes against the DEWA Electricity Wiring Regulations 2017 and your project’s approved design before sign-off.
